This is a translated version of my weekly newsletter with a handful of links that I’ve read during the last week. If you read Swedish you can have it in your mail every Wednesday by subscribing here: En handfull länkar
As a self-consultant, this is a thought-provoking text about the five things that are easy to miss or get wrong when building a personal brand. It’s equally important when coaching an expert or spokesperson, for example. Good article by Mark W. No one can really avoid feeling a certain fatigue when it comes to AI news, which is a shame because a lot of important things are happening, and it’s crucial to develop a perspective on it rather than just collecting tools. One company that is perceived to have dropped the ball in the debate is Meta. However, they present their AI Sandbox here, and I may be Meta-positive, but I believe they will be an important player. https://www.facebook.com/business/news/introducing-ai-sandbox-and-expanding-meta-advantage-suite
Upfront is when major media companies gather their biggest clients and sell advertising spots in bulk. Over the years, it has been a very important and widely discussed event, but it has started to lose ground in the context of digital marketing. JPG Media Law lists several bitter lessons from the latest Upfront, which concern not only media buyers. The previous letter was filled with Google goes AI, and I promised not to nag further, but this is a very interesting link: Google’s take on an AI policy — how do they take responsibility for responsible development? Simply put, their perspective and approach to development (pdf). https://storage.googleapis.com/gweb-uniblog-publish-prod/documents/A_Policy_Agenda_for_Responsible_Progress_in_Artificial_Intelligence.pdf
Futuresocial has analyzed McDonald’s Twitter strategy, and there are some very interesting observations. Sarah and I have often discussed whether this form of communication would work in a Swedish context: tongue-in-cheek and humor. What do you think? https://futuresocial.beehiiv.com/p/mcdonalds-twitter-strategy
Finally, on Friday, it’s the Berghs Festival. I’m going there to see what the students have produced throughout the year. The theme is not surprisingly AI. And as a quite fun PR stunt, they have created a fragrance using AI technology based on a number of images related to Berghs. Next time you meet me, I might simply smell like “Berghs.” https://news.cision.com/se/berghs-school-of-communication/r/berghs-lanserar-doft-med-hjalp-av-ai-teknik,c3771477 (in Swedish)
